Our Story, Mission, and Values
Our Story
SAFER™ Driver Training was created from a simple belief — many learners are taught to memorise answers, not understand driving.
After years of driving across cars, motorcycles and heavy vehicles, I saw the same pattern: people passed the test but still didn’t feel confident or safe on real roads.
So I built a different approach — one focused on thinking, awareness and responsibility, not just ticking boxes.
Our Mission
To help learners pass their theory test by becoming SAFER™ drivers, not by memorising questions.
We prepare you for real driving situations so that when you leave the course, you don’t just pass — you understand.
Our Values – The SAFER Principles
Everything we teach is built around our unique SAFER method:
Safety – Always protecting yourself and others
Anticipation – Reading the road early and planning ahead
Flow – Driving smoothly and predictably
Empathy – Understanding other road users
Responsibility – Owning your decisions behind the wheel
We don’t train you to pass a test.
We train you to think like a driver.

The Mind Behind SAFER
SAFER Driver Training is run personally by me, Matt Farley, giving you focused support rather than a one-size-fits-all driving school experience.
I bring over 20 years of real-world driving experience across multiple vehicle types including cars, motorcycles and large vans, along with successful completion of several UK driving theory tests (car, motorcycle, HGV and ADI).
My HGV training has also given me deeper awareness of road positioning, anticipation and hazard perception beyond standard learner level.
Alongside driving, I have spent the past 9 years working as a Practice Lead supporting non-verbal autistic adults. This has given me extensive experience adapting communication and teaching styles to suit different ways people process information, manage anxiety and overcome learning barriers.
Because of this, my coaching focuses on understanding — not memorising.
You will never be rushed, judged, or expected to “just get it”.
I am currently progressing through the Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) qualification process, and this course focuses specifically on theory understanding, awareness and safe decision-making.
My goal is simple:
help you pass your theory test by learning to think like a safe driver — not just remember answers.
